The Cambridge University Chinese Orchestra Society (*CUCOS*) is holding the annual concert *’Chapters of Life’* on Feb 24th, in the West Road Concert Hall. The event is currently the only concert in Cambridge that features traditional eastern music with both of western and Chinese instruments.

The Western Instrument Division (WID) is playing two pieces for the year: the *Butterfly Lovers* (Violin Concerto), and the *Qiao’s Grand Courtyard* (Symphonic Suite). The Butterfly Lovers is a modern arrangement of an ancient love tragedy, an Eastern version of the Romeo and Juliet. The Qiao’s Grand Courtyard is a contemporary composition known for the sophisticated blending of Western and Eastern musical
elements. The two pieces are among the most established music in the Chinese history.

The WID rehearsals are normally held in the Music Room of Robinson College on Sundays from 14:00 to 17:30.
