CUSU Shadowing Scheme

The Cambridge University Students’ Union Shadowing Scheme is aimed at bright, state school educated year 12 students who are on track to achieve A*AA in their A levels and who have little family experience of university or have great reservations about applying to Cambridge. The year 12s visit Cambridge from Thursday – Saturday and throughout their time ‘shadow’ a current undergraduate student studying a subject that they are interested in, going with them to lectures, trying out activities put on by societies and going to socials. The sixth form students get all of their food and accommodation provided for free by the Cambridge Colleges and travel expenses are reimbursed by CUSU on a needs basis. The scheme is very popular and always has positive feedback with students feeling like they really had the chance to experience university life. We run the scheme on three weekends in January/February with around 100 students coming each time. Applications for the 2013 scheme open in Mid-October and remain open until the beginning of December on our alternative prospectus website: http://www.applytocambridge.com/shadowing/

If you feel that this scheme is something your students would benefit from then we would love it if you could promote it within your school/college. If you or your students have any more questions about the scheme then please feel free to contact the CUSU Access Officer on access@cusu.cam.ac.uk
