Wine Tasting – “Small Growers of Catalunya”

The tasting will take place on Wednesday 5th march, in the Pfeiffer Room, at 8:15pm. It will be hosted by special guest presenter Ian Webb of Aldeby Wines.

Ian Webb is an ex aerospace engineer who made a career change to pursue his passion for wine. He spends his time travelling around europe visiting and working within small wineries, and obtaining excellent quality and value wines that would not usually be available to UK consumers.

In first term he brought us an extremely impressive collection of reds and whites from Languedoc and Rousillon, including the Domaine d’Emile ‘Secret des Roses’ wine of which only 1,000 bottles were ever produced. This time he will bring wines of Catalunya, featuring regions such as Montsant and Priorat.

Catalunya has a warm climate and the local industry is modern and innovative, producing powerful red wines which are generally great value for money. The Montsant region in particular is my personal favourite, with wines typically blended from the red varietals; Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Signup and payment in advance only. This is a premium tasting so we have increased the cost to £15 per ticket. Refunds available until 1st march. Please contact Nick(njc72) to confirm any bookings of more than 4 people.
