‘The Life of a Displaced Person’ with STAR and Afrinspire on Friday 1st Feb.
Robin Shawyer, executive director of the Windle Trust, will be presenting a talk on ‘The Life of a Displaced Person’.
Robin has extensive experience with the issues faced by refugees in East Africa. He has been working to support Sudanese refugees for more than a decade, and has also personally experienced the difficulties persecuted groups face, as he was imprisoned in Kenya for assisting refugees. Later, he came with his family to the UK as a refugee himself, where he played a part in initiating STAR.
Robin will be telling us some of his own life story and the experiences which led him to work at the Windle Trust, as well as talking about the lives of the the refugees whom the Trust supports.
It’s at 8pm in the Riley Auditorium, Clare College.
