CU Gilbert & Sullivan Society Presents A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum

Date: Weds 6th March – Sat 9th March
Time: 7.45 PM (matinee Sat 9th 2 PM)
Location: Mumford Theatre

A truly classic Broadway musical comedy, Forum represents Stephen Sondheim’s first foray into writing both music and lyrics. It tells the bawdy story of the slave Pseudolus and his desperate attempts to win his freedom. Recognising that his master, Hero, has fallen madly in love with a courtesan, Philia, from a nearby brothel, he promises to arrange the match in return for his freedom – however, getting Philia out of the hands of her soon-to-be husband, General Miles Gloriosus, proves a much more difficult task than he imagined. Winner of several Tony awards, including Best Musical and Best Book, this musical comedy has it all. With slapstick, mistaken identity, cross dressing, pretend deaths, puns and witty dialogue, don’t miss this opportunity to see an unforgettable production guaranteed to have you rolling in the aisles!

Tickets: £10/£8 students. Available from the Mumford theatre website, anglia.ac.uk/mumfordtheatre – or on the box office on 0845 196 2320.
