WANT TO SPEND 2 – 4 WEEKS VOLUNTEERING WITH MAJI MAZURI IN KENA?
Maji Mazuri runs a nursery school, microfinance project, Teenz Club and Youth Group (environmental work, peace-building, drama, sport and IT/skills training) in one of Nairobi’s shanty-towns. There is also an orphanage and home for disabled children, and a farm with a school attached in a rural Masai village about an hour from Nairobi.
You could help teach English and other subjects, run sports, craft or drama activities, paint the orphanage, work on the farm, train youth group members on life skills, work and play with the disabled children and much much more.
Maji Mazuri is funded by partner-charities in the US, UK and Netherlands. The UK branch, Maji Mazuri UK, is a registered charity run by Cambridge alumni who are all volunteers. We try to support Maji Mazuri’s work in Kenya by arranging volunteer placements for students, and by raising funds.
You’ll need to pay for your flight, in-country accommodation and food, insurance, vaccinations etc. Living is cheap but flights can be pricey so best to book soon. Estimate £1,500 for 3 weeks. We can help you find accommodation and we’ll try to answer all your questions before you go.
You can go any time July – September but it’s best to go in pairs or more so why not persuade a friend to join you? Or contact us and we’ll try to pair you up with someone from another college.

We’re all Cambridge alumni and we’ve all volunteered at the projects in Kenya ourselves. This is the third year we’ve arranged student volunteer trips like this. No-one pays us – we just want to promote Maji Mazuri because we had such an amazing time volunteering there ourselves and we want more people to get involved and support the work. Go and see for yourself – you’ll have the best summer ever.
