Film: “All About Eve” (1950)

This is another of the high points from the Golden Age of Hollywood. It is one of the great films ever made about the theatre, ambition, and backstage intrigues. A celebration of acting and of talking, it may also be one of Hollywood’s favorite films. Few films have ever been as celebrated at the Academy Awards. Written and directed by Joseph Mankiewicz, it stars Bette Davis, Anne Baxter, George Saunders, and Celeste Holm. It is a lot of great, bitchy fun.
