Film: “Santa Sangre” (1989)

Santa Sangre (“Holy Blood”) is a Mexican-Italian avant-garde thriller film directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky and written by Jodorowsky along with Claudio Argento and Roberto Leoni. The film tells the story of Fenix, a boy who grew up in a circus, and his life through both adolescence and early adulthood. The consequences of Fenix’s psychological trauma shape a cinematographic narration with abundant use of flashback and flashforward. This is the first movie night in a series dedicated to explore the work of Alejandro Jodorowsky: flimmaker, actor, writer, and “psychomagician”.
