“The Straight Story” is certainly an uncharacteristic film for David Lynch, an American director who has become so famous for his surrealist, mystifying and disturbing cinematic style. “The Straight Story” really has a straightforward narrative: it is based on a true story of Alvin Straight who took up a journey across Iowa and Wisconsin on a lawnmower to see his estranged brother, reported to be terminally ill.
David Lynch, who had no role in writing the screenplay, has called this his most experimental film. A straightforward and sentimental Lynch is certainly a must see!
