A plea from Fitz MCR for “Cantabs for Persecuted Scholars”

The Fitz MCR Committee has wholeheartedly supported the Cantabs for
Persecuted Scholars initiative and the talk [1] last night was packed
with students hoping to discover practical solutions to aid academic
refugees. The first stone to step on is this petition [2]!

With 230 students expressing solidarity with this cause at the time of
this email, a lot more work is left to truly wake up the institution of
Cambridge that we hold dear, to the needs of these academics. The CARA
[3] group is working with over 100 other universities including Oxford
to house and educate refugees, but we need more momentum to get things
going here at Cam.

The petition page has a lot more information and is much more eloquent
than I, so have a look and we hope that your MCR Committee can also put
its name to this worth cause.
