Hughes Blues

Hughes have a huge number of talented sports people, often these achievements go unnoticed. We would like to recognise these dedicated individuals and extend our congratulations.

Ballroom Dancing – Jodie Chalmers, Kirsty Davies and Tania Isacu all competed in a VERY successful Inter-Varsity competition, where Cambridge cleaned up the awards.

Basketball – Izzy Vyvyan (ex Blues rower) competed in the 2nds womens Basketball team last weekend. She has also been coaching the M2 Hughes boat who did very well in Bumps.

Cricket – Alisha Cramer plays for the women’s side.

Croquet – Our legendary Welfare Officer Luke Valori can sometimes be spotted on the lawns sipping Pimm’s and playing croquet – he’s pretty good at it too.

Equestrian – Clark Glasgow is part of the Cambridge University Riding Club.

Fencing – Alisha Cramer (Captain) and Lucy Miller will be competing in the Fencing Varsity on 12th March. They have finished as the BUCS Midlands 1A league champions.

Football – Demos Christou plays for the Uni 2nds team, with an upcoming match this Saturday. Good luck!

Rowing – Peta Blundell will be racing with the Women’s Lightweights Varsity on Saturday 19th March. The Boat Race on Easter Sunday will see many Hughesians on the river including Women’s Blue Boat cox Rosemary Ostfeld, Blue Boat Rowers Lance Tredell, Ben Ruble and Henry Hoffstot. Other Hughes members of the team include Vince Bertram, Alister Taylor and Joe Carroll.

Rugby League – John Cormie has an upcoming match tomorrow – best of luck to you and the team.

Rugby Union – Ian Nagle and Fraser Gillies played at the Twickenham Varsity match this year.

Swimming – Graeham Douglas competed for Hughes in the winning swimming team last weekend.
