CAMBRIDGE PEN PRESENTS: LE PRÉSIDENT

When: Wednesday 14 May, 7.30pm
Where: The Blue Room @ The Union
Price: £3, all welcome to attend

‘The President in Cameroon is God: he sees everything, he knows everything, he can do anything.’

Award-winning director Jean-Pierre Bekolo’s 2013 film, ‘Le Président’ asks what might happen if a dictator like Cameroonian President Paul Biya were to disappear after more than 40 years in power. A powerful and witty critique of government in a country where debate is fiercely quelled, the film has been banned in Cameroon. PEN’s screening is only the second time it will be shown in the UK.

Cambridge PEN warmly invites you to this rarely seen, fascinatingly political film. The admission charge (£3) will cover the costs of screening, and help PEN to further support writers, journalists, and artists suffering from violence or persecution.
