Hi all, I’m a medical student on the graduate course and I’m your MCR president for the next academic year. A challenge that I’m looking forward to. My role as president is to represent the views of students at college level meetings and working with the MCR committee to put on a collection of events throughout the year – from the classic Cambridge Bop to academic, cultural and welfare events. Nicholas Langford is a final-year undergraduate from Melbourne, Australia, reading for the Classical Tripos. As Vice President, he supports Harry Holkham in representing Hughes students at both the College and University levels. Within Hughes, Nicholas sits on the House Committee and the Development Strategy Committee. He is also the College’s delegate to the Cambridge University Students’ Union. Hello, I’m Maxim, a first year PhD Student in Engineering. As a treasurer, my role is mainly administrative consisting of looking after the MCR finances and making sure we are sticking to our budget. This year I hope to work closely with many of our MCR officers to help organise numerous events throughout the college by providing optimal financial support. One of my favourite things in Hughes is talking to students from various backgrounds and disciplines and listening to their suggestions with regards to college life. With an optimised budget I am hoping to be able to bring those ideas to life and to increase the number of social events throughout the year in order to create an even more thriving community within Hughes Hall. I am a third year PhD student in the faculty of engineering, specializing in sensor design. I am outgoing and like to get involved in organizing and being part of social events. Hi everyone! My name is Lucas and I’m your LGBT+ Officer for the following year. My role is to ensure the college is LGBT+ friendly, and that everyone is respected equally. In particular, I intend to work on keeping college policies gender neutral. Hello, I’m Caitlyn, studying a postgraduate degree in Social Innovation. As your Multi-Ethnic Officer, I represent the interests of ethnic minorities within the college and the diverse needs and perspectives of students. I am responsible for implementing our racial discrimination policy and providing a link with CUSU BME campaign initiatives. I would also like to organise a number of events celebrating our diversity and developing our inclusive culture. I’m Josh and I’m a second year Law student. As accommodation officer I provide a link between the students and the college, relaying student’s concerns to the relevant staff members and making sure we have a say in any proposed changes in policy or structural developments. Hi! I’m Naz and I’m a third year PhD student at the MRC Cancer Unit working on molecular regulators of kidney cancer metastasis. I am heavily involved in the Hughes Hall College Boat Club having rowed with them for the past 2 years and I’m currently the President of the club for the 2017/2018 academic year. As your Sports and Societies Officer, I am here to help all clubs and societies of Hughes Hall grow and prosper throughout the year be it through allocated MCR funds or a helping hand to ensure all their activities and events run smoothly. My goal is to enrich the student life of Hughes Hall through dedicated clubs and societies throughout the academic year. I am also keen on showcasing the sporting prowess and talents of Hughesians either at the University level or the college level, to the Hughes Hall community and the rest of the Cambridge University. I also coordinate an annual Sports and Societies Dinner to celebrate the continuing successes of our sportsmen/sportswomen as well as the achievements of the clubs and societies in Hughes Hall.
